- Students aged 16 to 22 apply with NSTF during the month of October
- Students meet for an introductory meeting in October
- Students meet for five sessions between November 2012 and April 2013 to discuss a different scientific topic during each session
- Students team up with other students (maximum group size 3 students) to give a presentation on a topic of preference assigned during one of the sessions
- Students put forward their views on their colleagues’ presentations and discuss science
- A guest speaker specialised in the field being discussed is invited to aid discussion and to give his/her views on the topic.
- A panel of judges assigns marks every session. Teams that score highest 2 marks win the prizes above.
